Abstract :
The DBS services represent only a small take-up of the frequency assignments of the WARC ´77 Plan where in general each country was allocated five channels spaced at four channel intervals. The band accommodates forty DBS channels each 27 MHz wide, but which overlap because they are spaced at 19.18 MHz. The assignments in the WARC ´77 Plan have the primary status such that the use of the band by other services is limited to the extent that they shall not cause interference to any broadcasting satellites operating in accordance with the Plan. It is in this context that MVDS is being considered for sharing in the 12 GHz band. The main issues to be decided are the size of any guard bands, and the size of any coordination distances used for geographic sharing
