Abstract
To build a precise model is a key issue in fulfilling on optimal control of the turbocharged diesel engine. Mean-value model has been extensively used for engine control, but neglects the scavenging efficiency. On the basis of carefully considering air-fuel ratio deeply affected by the scavenging efficiency, a modified mean-value dynamic model is established. Varying exhaust gas constant and specific heat ratio are also considered. The 6S60MC marine diesel engine is taken as an example. Simulation studies are conducted, and results show the model is precise and can be used for developing and analyzing engine control algorithms
