Abstract :
In 2011, India has approximately 171 GW of installed capacity using fossil fuels. The fossil energy sources in Maharashtra state India has been depleting and short fall in centralized energy generation is growing day by day with increasing demand and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has to carry out heavy forced load shedding. Renewable energy sector growth in India during last five years has been significant. The renewable energy sources are going to become the long-term solution for future energy. India has got large potential for renewable energy sources. In this paper, economic aspect of the renewable energy is analyzed. A case of MSEDCL is presented considering the centralized energy and decentralized energy in context to economic scaling.
