Abstract :
The author sets out the case to show that, provided a valve-regulated lead-acid battery (VRLA) is designed to meet the relevant product standards, and is operated to recognized safety codes of practice, then the operator will have safe, reliable, VRLA stationary batteries in his equipment. A summary is provided on the availability of both national and international standards, and a digest of the content of the proposed international standard on these batteries is given
