  • Abstract
On the basis of orthogonal experiment method, the grind-hardening of 65Mn steel had been carried out on a conventional surface grinder with alumina grinding wheel, the influence of depth of cut ap, table speed vw, grinding mode gm, and interaction between depth of cut and table speed av on grinding force were investigated. The results show that, all factors influencing the mean value of tangential grinding force Fmt are insignificant factor and av can be regarded as abandoned factor, in addition the significance ratio from most to least as followed: vw >;ap >; gm>; av; all factors influencing the mean value of normal grinding force Fmn are significant factor, in addition the significance ratio from most to least as followed: ap >; vw >; gm >; av. Relatively smaller grinding force and completely grind-hardened layer workpiece can be obtained when using grinding conditions that the ap = 0.2mm, the vw = 0.2m/min, and the gm =up grinding + down grinding in practical applications.
