            Abstract : 
An automatic battery monitoring system that uses a microcomputer is presented. Considerations for cost and maintenance reduction in telecommunications and other applications are discussed. The monitoring system was designed to help minimize the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) battery maintenance cost by detecting cell and interconnection failures before they compromise system performance
