Abstract :
The assumption that the eddy-current losses in transformer windings is proportional with the square of the frequency is reasonable when conductors with sides less than 3 mm are used. For conductors with larger dimensions, such assumption leads to conservative results. This paper provides a corrected harmonic loss factor that leads to more accurate prediction of transformer capability to operate when supplying nonsinusoidal load currents
