Abstract :
Electromagnetic transient simulation programs are commonly used in power quality studies of power system networks. This paper describes the analysis of a distribution network that has experienced catastrophic events of a ferroresonant nature. Following a brief overview of ferroresonance, an emphasis is placed on duplicating field measurements in the PSCAD/EMTDC environment. A discussion of possible mitigation routines and their simulated results ensues
