Abstract :
The IEC 1000-3-6 and IEEE Std. 519 are two well known standards for interconnecting customers to utility systems. This short paper compares their differences and commonalities in terms of methodologies and philosophies involved. It is shown that the voltage distortion levels are the primary concern for compliance verification. There is a need to improve the IEEE Std. 519 by including the positive features of the IEC 1000-3-6
