Abstract
Discusses the possibility of an intelligent wheelchair for the disabled. Stopping to avoid accidents is already possible, and avoidance movement planning could follow. At a higher level, navigation is possible using maps and databases combined with sensors. Vision is unreliable for this purpose, but the detection of active beacons is a feasible method. The robot can itself learn the connections between regions in its database
