Abstract :
The author discusses the civil and military applications of C3IS systems with respect to following comparisons: user/system requirements, support requirements including engineering standards, engineering solutions in the use of commercial and military products and their ownership costs. A generalised view of the main functional subsystems for a C3IS command and control system is also presented
