  • Abstract
Based on the data of water depth and channel cubage in the North Branch, the flow spilt ratio of the North Branch and the South Branch, The reasons for the sediment deposition in the North Branch are analyzed, and a 3D hydrodynamic model is set up to simulate the tidal currents in the Changjiang River estuary. This model has been validated with the measured data, the computed results of water level, flow velocity magnitude and direction agree well with the measured data. The present hydrodynamic condition in the North Branch is further analyzed by use of this model; consequently, the research results can provide the government decision-maker for technical supports to meet the navigation requirement of 3000 tons ship.
