Abstract
In this paper, a number of compact integrated dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) configurations are proposed and analyzed. Unlike existing DVR realizations, which usually have independent power conversion entities, the proposed configurations merge these entities in a single integrated unit so as to gain a saving in semiconductor devices without compromising performances. The designed DVRs are therefore less costly, and have lesser underutilized components since more than one functionality are now managed by most components, allowing for a reduction in semiconductor. Comparison of the designed DVRs using a detailed grading system is also attempted, so as to rank them accordingly before a sound judgment is made on the best configuration. Simulation testing is then shown to study the conceptual findings discussed in the paper.
