Abstract :
This paper presents a novel energy function for economic load dispatch by using the modified Hopfield model. In the conventional Hopfield method, the energy function included the quadratic loss formula, which results in a rather complex map to the Hopfield model. In the conventional solving process, it assumes the transmission loss is constant. This will not make the losses to a minimum and the network cannot distinguish between losses and increased load requirements. To rectify this problem, we attempt to construct that an energy function is similar to the augmented cost function, which includes both the absolute value of power mismatch and the total fuel cost. Computational results show that this approach can find more accurate solutions and the solving process is more simply and fast than the conventional Hopfield method.
