Abstract
Summary form only given. Light trapped in photonic nanostructures displays behaviour that is markedly different from light in the far field. A unique near-field microscope allows us to separate different vector components of the light field, including its magnetic field. In this lecture we will highlight recent results, including the control of light in nanocavities through an effective diamagnetic light-matter interaction.
