Abstract :
The analysis of three-dimensional time-harmonic scattering from doubly periodic arrays of disjointed finite-size penetrable bodies is considered. The approach used involves the formulation of the problem in terms of fictitious current sources that lie a distance away from the surface. The suggested solution procedure is simple to implement and is applicable to double periodic arrays composed of homogeneous bodies of smooth, but otherwise arbitrary, shape. Lossy bodies can be handled with no additional complexity. Arrays composed of perfectly conducting bodies are treated as reduced cases of the general procedure. The accuracy of the method has been demonstrated by means of several accuracy checks. It has also been shown that in the limiting case of widely spaced spherical scatters the numerical solution agrees well with an approximate analytic solution.<>
