Abstract :
Usability engineering can enrich communications design from concept to post-release with information derived from consultation with and observation of users. The author brings a human-factors perspective to two key questions: when and how to test ideas with typical end-users. This paper is based on a detailed human-factors development cycle and focuses specifically on documentation issues, especially in those phases where documentation issues have not historically been examined. The following development stages are examined: market analysis, feasibility study, requirements definition, product acceptance analysis, task analysis, and global design
