Abstract
A multi-train simulator developed at the University of Birmingham has been used for the Central Line renewal programme and other railway systems. This system has been purchased by London Underground. Further development of the simulator is required for the Northern Line. As a result, a project was initiated by the Development Directorate to develop the simulator. The project is being undertaken by the London Underground Design Consultancy Group-Professional Services Group operating within the Engineering Directorate. The authors outline the interaction of the three parties (client, client engineer and professional services) concerned with the simulator, how the simulator will be used, the work involved in extending its capabilities and the cost justification for the simulator development programme
