Abstract
The author outlines a method for developing a training program to improve technical writing through the application of engineering principles. It is based on a similar program developed for a consulting engineering firm of about 1000 employees. The program focuses on practical, hands-on methods for improving writing skills by emphasizing how language functions instead of applying grammatical rules and language theory. Properly designed, the program should change the participants´ attitude toward writing, improve their writing skills, and make them more productive and effective on the job
