Abstract
Optical switching devices based on nonlinear photonic crystals are analyzed by an efficient technique based on the frequency domain finite element method. The solution of the nonlinear Helmholtz equation is obtained through an iterative process involving linear problems solution. Also, the method uses isoparametric curvilinear elements for the spatial discretization and nonlinear perfectly matched layers to truncate the computational domain.
