Abstract
We have developed a joint medium access control (MAC) and physical (PHY) layer analytical cross-layer model in order to estimate the energy consumption in IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks (WLANs). A comparison between numerical and simulation results is carried out assuming the IEEE 802.11a physical (PHY) layer.
