Abstract :
In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of indium phosphide solar cells for applications in space. This is a result of the high performance expected, coupled with an excellent radiation resistance, which leads to the prediction of low degradation levels during typical mission periods. Clearly, this can result in significant advantages in terms of reduction in solar array size and/or extended mission durations. This paper will provide a brief history of the development of InP solar cells, a review of the present status and will also discuss the issues still to be addressed
