Abstract :
Establishing a reliable electronic delivery process for student assignments is challenging in an Internet-dependent environment The most common method for electronic delivery is e-mail which frequently is vulnerable to malicious attack. In large academic institutions such an attack commonly results in delays of days until stability is restored. Additionally, the e-mail delivery pipeline for assignment materials included as attachments involves several steps that become onerous in situations involving frequent and numerous communications. A Web- and file-sharing-enabled solution yields a reliable document handling pipeline elegant in its efficiency, simplicity, ease of installation and maintenance, and paperless workflow. Students quickly and easily post and retrieve assignment materials while instructors efficiently maintain a local document repository, easily retrieve newly posted documents, annotate and return graded materials. Reliability is restored by this Web-based virus-free process, tested in two information technology classes at Brigham Young University.
