Abstract :
The authors describe the system arguments that have determined the wavelength, modulation format and system architecture to achieve a breadboard demonstrator for a 100 Mbps coherent optical intersatellite link with a BER of 10-9. The enabling technology for this system are high power, single frequency and mode DFB lasers at 1.55 μm
