Abstract :
The Better Explanations for Expert Systems project is currently investigating methods for providing improved interaction facilities for KBSs. The necessary flexibility and adaptability to the individual requires an interface which accepts natural language input and maintains a model of the individual (including the individual´s current state of knowledge), in order to generate tailored textual responses, based not only on domain knowledge, but also on information accumulated about the user during the dialogue
