The Alvey `design to product´ demonstrator project: a user´s view

The paper describes the user´s view of design to product (DtoP). The term `user´ is applied to both an organisation using DtoP software for the purposes of demonstration and to the individual engineer interacting with the system at the workstation. It describes both the application-building work undertaken at the demonstration site and reports the limited individual use made of the system. Some observations on the perils of adopting the user role in collaborative projects of this nature are also made
