Abstract :
The construction industry may well be the most difficult industry in which to implement IT and AI techniques but it also may well be the industry in which the benefits to be gained will be the most dramatic. In order to identify the strategic research issues concerning the acceptance and implementation of AI, it is first necessary to consider the nature of the industry and its problems. This is done by examining organisational and technical issues. The author goes on to look at specific AI research issues
