  • Abstract
Concerns the preparation by Rediffusion of a bid for a contract to build a flight simulator for pilot training. The explicit inclusion of a component or components may lead to implicit requirements too, and unless there is a detailed accounting system then errors will occur. Much depends on the experience and skill of the sales engineer or project manager involved. The goal of the research programme was to engineer an expert system environment to provide a means of representing and reasoning about the structure and interrelation of component parts and their integration. The knowledge for the system has been extracted from experienced project managers, product engineers and sales engineers
