Abstract :
Group business and business unit managements face the complex task of linking the needs of and performance targets for shareholders to the business operating and reporting systems and the related management decision processes. To develop an expert system to help with a decision support process means focusing on the decisions involved. It is possible to develop an expert system to support the decision processes by studying the decision process and the goals which a business is normally expected to achieve. It is then possible to arrange data and other information needed in relation to the decision-taking process. The article describes how this may be done, and discusses applications
