Abstract :
The research, technological development and innovation activities of Opera 2 are very related to the standardization of the new generation of PLC integrated network. During OPERA phase 1 a comprehensive specification of the PLC components, that need to be standardized for guaranteeing the interoperability of devices from different manufacturers, was delivered. The OPERA specification version 1 covers both PHY and MAC layers (part 1 of the specification), as well as higher layers´ components (part 2 of the specification). OPERA phase 1 also delivered a proposal for an access / in-home coexistence mechanism. During OPERA phase 2, we will issue a second version of the OPERA specification that will be compatible with the future (still to be agreed) access / in-home coexistence standard, and that could / will be recognized as European / worldwide access PLC standard.
