Abstract
The choice of cellular structures in personal communication networks (PCNs) is large. The designer may consider pedestrian mobile users to occupy street microcells, and vehicular mobiles to use larger microcells that overlay the pedestrian microcells, such that the pedestrian and vehicular mobile stations have similar handover rates. The authors determine the probabilities of new calls being blocked, calls in progress being forced to terminate, and the overall channel utilization, for three network scenarios
