Abstract
However erudite mobile radio technology might become, undergraduate projects must remain realistic, achievable of low cost and of a well defined time scale. A large proportion of electronic engineering undergraduates want a project where they build some sort of circuit, especially in the communications area. Also many of the students have had little or no previous experience, except in terms of practical laboratory exercises and group design exercises. The author discusses the problems of designing projects by describing a project done in 1981/2. The author then describes a project on coherent frequency exchange keying suitable for students
