Abstract
In recent years, for its convenient installation and low cost, the power line increasingly become a popular transmission medium in creating residential network. Home automation system architecture based on power line communication (PLC) is showed in the paper. Although power line offers numerous benefits, it has the same security problem as other kinds of residential network. According to the performance of power-line channel, we analyze the security threats in this architecture and then initially introduce encryption to solve these threats. Based on researching related secure scheme, an efficient key agreement and authentication protocols which integrating Diffie-Hellman key agreement with digital signature algorithm (DSA) is proposed. The protocols fulfill key agreement and authentication in two rounds and allot to client controller more than one session key in one come-and-go procedure. At last, we demonstrated it is an efficient protocols well suited for home automation system based on PLC.
