Title :
Radio climatological studies over the coastal region of Poland
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
In the case of the VHF and UHF ranges, defining the radio climate consists in presenting a set of features related to the atmospheric refraction which are characteristic for the area of interest. The data set includes the 20-year period 1961-1980, and some shorter periods between 1957 and 1992, long enough for defining the basic characteristics of the radio climate. The properties of the atmospheric refraction depends on the distribution of the radio refractive index N. A study of distribution of the profile of the radio refractive index N in the ~3-km thick ground layer of the troposphere in a chosen part of the Baltic Sea and the coastal region of Poland was carried out at the Technical University of Gdansk
