Title :
Software metrics-an introduction
Author_Institution :
Open Univ., Milton Keynes
Abstract :
Software metrics are an attempt to quantify some aspect of a product generated during a software project. This not only includes the program code of a system, but also, more important documents such as the functional specification, the system design and the detailed design. The aim of the paper is to give a historical perspective to the rise of software metrics, and to attempt to predict the course that the study and use of software metrics will take over the next decade
