Abstract
Field emission array (FEA) cathodes possess a number or remarkable properties that would be extremely beneficial in vacuum electron device (VED). The field emission array is produced by lithography. The cathode stem is mounted on a conflat flange and bellows arrangement that allows extraction and removal of the cathodes from the VED for examination and/or replacement. High voltage operation and emission current density of an FEA cathode in VED was demonstrated. Schematic diagram of FEA cathode emitter region was showed.
