Abstract :
This paper uses the finite element method for the estimation of the primary parameters of an underground, low voltage, power distribution cable. The analysis is performed in view of communication and electromagnetic compatibility issues. Calculations are performed up to 40 MHz, on the basis of an accurate diffusion equation. Comparisons with a specific set of earlier results, which neglect the displacement current, are carried out up to 500 MHz. This cable is widely used by the Hellenic Electric Power Company in urban networks all over Greece. According to the VDE standardization, its code is NA2XCWY.
