Abstract :
The building services of a large industrial or commercial building will typically cover fire, intruder, energy management (including heating and ventilation), building management, telephony, lighting and lifts. An access control system may also be present. The author examines the future for the integration of building services in larger buildings. Emphasis is placed on the application layer of the OSI model since this is seen as the most critical area
