Abstract
The author concentrates on the control and instrumentation aspects of FGD as retrofitted to a 4×500 MW coal fired power station using the limestone/gypsum process. The author describes the process and the associated equipment. The parameters to be monitored and controlled are listed. The control positions for each process are discussed and the use of a SCADA system described. The chemical monitoring instrumentation is also discussed
