Abstract :
Image compression is a subject that is viewed with varying degrees of interest by the professional video industry. Although image compression is frequently applied for point to point distribution of programming, its application in the area of professional video recorder products has yet to be introduced. The reasons for scepticism are usually based on the belief that once images are compressed their quality is degraded or that the compressed image data will not stand up to the video production process
