  • Abstract
European telecommunication standards (ETS) are produced by ETSI, the European Telecommunication Standards Institute. ETSI has a wide range of technical committees, active in radio and networks standards, as well as terminals. Overlap with the work of the other European standards bodies, CEN and CENELEC, is avoided by co-ordinating work activities in a joint steering committee. Generally speaking, the work of CEN and CENELEC corresponds, at world-wide level, to the work of ISO and IEC, whilst the work of ETSI corresponds to that of CCITT. The author describes the UK´s role within the ETSI
