Abstract :
Polishing treatment of yeast wastewater by ferric chloride was investigated in this study. Main parameters of the coagulated effluent, such as color, COD and residual turbidity, were measured and molecular weight, size distribution, and charge property were characterized. The results show that final pH is the most influential factor of coagulation efficiency using ferric chloride with the optimum pH in the range of 4-5. Under the optimal conditions, color and COD removal efficiencies were up to 86% and 96%, respectively.
