Abstract
Registration for OSI standards is the term used to refer to the assignment of an unambiguous name to an information object, and to the recording of the associated specification. Registration procedures specify how the process is carried out, in particular how globally unambiguous names are generated for assignment. The naming scheme, delegation of authority for registration, specific registration needs, directories, registration within the UK and the role of the British Standards Institution are outlined
