Abstract :
Low power radio telemetry and trunked private mobile radio (PMR) meet all the criteria important to the electricity companies who wish to extend current SCADA systems into the rural networks. The author describes how low power radio and trunked PMR can be used for communications in rural automation schemes, especially for control and indication on overhead networks
