Abstract :
It is shown how the association of the moment method and the theory of loaded scatterers appears to be an efficient mathematical tool for describing active microstrip antennas. The introduction of a MESFET on the feedline of an electromagnetically coupled microstrip dipole is analyzed as a case study. Theoretical results are in good agreement with experiment in regard to input impedance. It is concluded that the approach, which can be applied to any kind of two-port at any location in a radiating structure, provides a promising efficient tool for analyzing future microstrip phased arrays.<>
