Abstract :
The deduction of the fingerprint singular points is the most challenging task, it has been used for fingerprint classification and as reference points for minutiae matching and alignment. In this paper, a novel algorithm is proposed for singular points detection, which is based on the orientation reliability. The algorithm starts by enhancing the fingerprint image using the Gabor filter, followed by calculation of the reliability to locate the core and delta. Experimental results have proven that the proposed algorithm locates singular points in a fingerprint image with high accuracy.
