Abstract
Describes ART, an adaptive radar testbed which is the subject of a collaborative programme between the Ministry of Defence, ARE Portsdown and Siemens Plessey Radar, Cowes. The aim of the programme is to put an adaptive multifunction radar (MFR) into the field in the early part of 1991. This will become a testbed used to demonstrate the technology and prove the functionality of a real time adaptive MFR. ART will be used operationally and will gather and record data on: performance benefits of adaptive radar control in clutter and ECM; real time optimisation of radar performance in high density target environments; validation of design and performance prediction models; and validation of systems and subsystems simulations
