Abstract :
The assessment of prototypes is frequently an important stage in the introduction of new products and the speed at which it is performed can have a significant influence upon the total time and market. This has been found to be particularly true in the incorporation of embedded microprocessors in a number of industrial equipments. Of relevance in this context are equipments in which the microprocessor performs some relatively straightforward control or monitoring functions and also provides a fairly simple interface to the equipment for use by an unskilled operator
