Abstract :
Fingerprint enhancement plays a key role in the fingerprint identification system, and it directly influences the final accuracy of fingerprint identification. An improved fingerprint image enhancement method based on Gabor filter is presented and realized in this paper. In our method, after Fourier transforming transforms the fingerprint enhancement from spatial domain to frequency domain, the fingerprint images are enhanced by directional filter in frequency domain. The experimental results demonstrate that the improved method can enhance processing effects of fingerprint images, and has the advantages of better good processing effect and faster operating speed.
