Abstract :
A new educational tool in the form of an electromagnetic wave simulator is described. It is based on the transmission-line matrix (TLM) method of numerical analysis (a method using Huygens´s principle in discretized form), employs a sophisticated graphics user interface, and runs on MS DOS computers, as well as RISC (reduced instruction set computer) workstations. Since most students now have access to such machines, it becomes feasible to employ this field simulator as a visual electromagnetics laboratory, complementing the traditional teaching of microwave courses. The main features of the TLM wave simulator are presented.<>
